Spring Valley hospital was the first hospital in the southwest portion of the Las Vegas valley. The hospital was the first building on the master planned campus that now includes two medical office buildings. Some of the unique features of the site are the connection between the hospital and the first medical office building, and the open-air courtyards. The indoor scenic walkway connects the main hospital with the first medical office building allowing climate-controlled passage for physicians and patients.

The Courtyard Café was named for the open-air courtyard where patients and staff dine in a plaza with meandering landscaped borders and a central landscaped raised planter bed bordered by a seat wall. The larger courtyard area is surrounded by the hospital tower on all sides. This area allows for hospital administrators and other staff to have softened views of evergreen groundcovers, patio-sized trees, and small palms throughout the sculpted rolling terrain.
