Desert adapted plant material with rock groundcover has been provided in all landscape areas. Plant material is lush in areas close to building entrances, gathering areas, and arrival points, which are referred to as the “mini oasis concept”. The S and W side of the building consist of deciduous shade trees to soften & shade the building façade in the summer and allow in sun after the trees leaves drop in the winter.
Climbing deciduous vegetation was chosen to help cool the wall during the summer growing season, while helping heat the building during the fall and winter dormancy season. Irrigation system is a highly efficient, low volume drip system. The water harvesting wash feature will aid in slowing down the velocity and allow the drainage water to further percolate into the soil. JWZ is responsible for all landscape architecture design, including planting, irrigation, detailing, and construction administration.
