This project included design for both the front and back yards. In the front yard, overgrown shrubs were replaced with appropriate sized material which opened up views from the windows. In addition to reducing the turf area, a new brick and wrought iron fence and decorative brick entry walk were included to add street appeal. In the back yard we worked the existing trees into the overall design and added several new shade and accent trees. The meandering pathways cross over the natural arroyos to meet at a central gathering place with natural sandstone seating and an in-ground fire pit with views overlooking the entire Las Vegas valley.

We added an enhanced outdoor kitchen for entertaining, complete with seating areas attached to the kitchen and an additional area nearby for larger gatherings. A private retreat area was added adjacent to the new pad area for the existing Jacuzzi. This sitting area is secluded by custom designed rebar trellis structures with flowering vines. The owner is an adoptive parent to two rescued desert tortoises, so new homes were designed for both. Research was done, and with the assistance of the local Desert Tortoise Society, we designed the burrows and plant materials to ensure they would thrive in their new homes.
