One of the main goals of this new resort that lies within the southern portion of the Las Vegas Valley was to create the feel of a “mature desert oasis”. The owners wanted to create a “modern Italian landscape” in order to marry the Italian heritage of the family owned hotel/casino, with the contemporary styling of the building’s architecture.

The most notable elements of this project would be the preservation and re-use of the mature pine trees already on site; the placement of low-water-use succulent plant material all throughout the pool area to enhance the desert setting; and especially, the statuesque nature of the Pindo Palms throughout the pool area. Also unique was the large swathes of plant material that flow through the site and building to create rivers of plant communities. JWZ had the responsibility of designing the planting & irrigation systems, along with the pool design.
