JW Zunino was contracted to develop a landscape development code that could be given to future developers to create a unified shopping center. The code was developed by creating areas of commonality within the site. Areas were defined as main streets, corners/entries, corridor streets, parking lots, and building perimeters. Each of these areas was developed to enhance the site and to give visual indications of where entrances are located.
Planting lists were created to give developers options while still limiting selection. Trees were limited to 2-3 species per area and shrubs were limited to 4-7 species. The code sets design guides requiring large swaths of one to two species per 100-250 linear feet, the color of DG required, and plant coverage.
